Andrew LaVogue at the beach

Andrew LaVogue is described as "a virtuosic composer and guitar player."

Andrew LaVogue writes and performs instrumental guitar music that sits between American Primitive, ambient and post-rock. Raised in the Midwest and now based on the Maine coast, his playing carries the open-tuned storytelling tradition of John Fahey alongside the cinematic, atmospheric sweep of The Mermen and Pink Floyd.

His debut EP, Surrounded by the Northern Lights, released in January 2021, was inspired by a weekend trip to Acadia and drew coverage from the Portland Press Herald, Record Crates United and Underground Music Collective, who praised his restraint and taste as a composer. In 2022 he followed it with the album Cherry Valley Waltz, which the Press Herald highlighted for drawing on his Midwestern childhood. His newest release, Dandelions and Other Love Songs, has been featured by outlets including Last Day Deaf, OLEADA Indie and The Bollard.

LaVogue has worked as a guitarist and bassist in bands and as a touring guitarist. He has performed live on WMPG, at Vinegar Hill and on Live at Madrids, and recently wrapped up a two-year residency at Hi-Fidelity in Portland.
